Community Ambassador Application

We are now accepting applications for the Fall 2018 Semester.

The basic function of the Community Ambassadors is to promote the values and mission of the Community Ambassador program. The Community Ambassador program is dedicated to preventing and reporting instances of interpersonal violence on campus and in the community.

The Community Ambassadors strive to create positive, working relationships with the community and off-campus students, as well as the University. The Community Ambassadors will use their training and experience to create inclusive programs for the off-campus students and Cooper Grant community in order to foster safe spaces for building and maintaining positive relationships. The Community Ambassadors will maintain cohesiveness with the group by attending bi-weekly staff meetings to brainstorm program ideas.

Compensation for your time is $11/hour with the expectations of working 10 hours a week.

A Minmium GPA of 2.25 is required to apply.

Community Policing - With a specialization in community policing you will have the opportunity to work regularly with RUPD to focus on engaging the off-campus students through the community policing model. In connection with community policing and creating safer spaces, you will be able to better identify and report instances of harassment, stalking, and violence in the community. In addition, you will be able to identify areas of improvement where educational programming and networking can be used to help create a safer community!

Community Standards and Student Conduct - With a specialization in community standards and conduct, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Coordinator of Community Standards to communicate about issues with our students in an effort to more positively engage our off-campus population and to ensure student safety, well-being and success. In addition, you will have the ability to connect and collaborate on programs and events!

Programming - With a specialization in programming, you will have the opportunity to work in connection with the Office of Student Involvement to learn how to effectively create and implement successful programs for our off-campus students and community aligned with the mission of the Community Ambassador program. With this specialization, you will learn valuable time management, collaboration and communication skills that will enable your creative side to grow!

Community Partnerships - With a focus on community partnerships, you will be able to use your position as a community member to help connect with the Cooper Grant neighborhood to promote positive relationships between off-campus students, our neighbors, and the University. In working with our non-affiliated neighbors, you will be able to determine the strengths of our students as well as areas of improvement where educational programming can help bridge the gap between these two populations to ensure the safety and success of our students.

Communication and Marketing - With a focus on communication and marketing, you will have the opportunity to create appealing and informational flyers, social media posts, press releases and newsletters that effectively market the mission and programs of the Community Ambassador program! With this specialization, you will be able to connect with other individuals on our campus who have had success in these endeavors in order to build your professional network and best practices.
